Adobe announces the end of life for Photo Editor by Aviary

Today we make the difficult announcement that our latest version of Photo Editor by Aviary will be our last.

On Monday, December 10, 2018, the Photo Editor by Aviary will no longer be available to download on the app stores. You can continue to enjoy using Aviary, but we will no longer be providing updates.

Aviary has always had a simple purpose: to provide users with the best and most accessible photo editing experience there is to offer. We are grateful and proud to have provided such an outlet of creativity for users of all ages and experience for all these years. We now look forward to continuing our relationship with the incredible community we have built and fostered within Aviary by providing them with creative solutions powered by Adobe.

We have decided to focus our product offerings and engineering resources around our flagship products, that include the Adobe Spark and Photoshop family of products.

Adobe Spark Post: A large portion of our Aviary community have adopted Adobe Spark into their worfklows to easily and quickly create graphics for social media and more. Adobe Spark Post is a free web and mobile app that creates stunning graphics in a few simple steps. Just pick a photo, add text and effects and instantly publish impactful graphics. Perfect for social media marketers and students alike. Choose from thousands of free templates, images, symbols or add your own.

Photoshop Express: Many within our Aviary community love using Photoshop Express because it offers many of the same fun photo editing features that they enjoy with Aviary Photo Editor – plus cool new features like, artistic collages, 45 new eye-catching looks and one-click sharing to multiple destinations. 3. Publish to Aviary & post to Instagram tagging us with #aviarychallenge and @aviaryphoto. You can challenge your friends to join in too!

Submit your edits by 3/20 and we'll post the winner on 3/21!
 

February Photo Editing Challenge

Love is in the air so we want to see your Valentine's Day themed edits!
Show us what love means to you - submit your best edits to us for this month's challenge!

1. Edit your original content using our Valentine's themed effects, stickers and overlays.

2. Publish your edit publicly to the community using the "Publish To Aviary" option when saving with the title #aviarychallenge.

3. Post the image to Instagram & tag us with #aviarychallenge and @aviaryphoto.
Submissions are open until 2/15 and we'll be sharing your submissions & recipes on the Featured Gallery. Winner announced on 2/16.

January Photo Editing Challenge

🚨 CHALLENGE ALERT🚨

Let's kick 2017 off by seeing how creative you can get!

Here's what you need to do:
1. Download this image
2. Edit in the most inventive way you can within Aviary using our Galaxy, Space, and/or Starlight stickers + any other effects or frames packs.
3. Publish your edit publicly to our stream in the app via the "Publish this Edit" button.

Then, post the final image to your Instagram tagging @aviaryphoto and #aviarychallenge in your post. Challenge your most creative friends to participate as well by mentioning tagging them as well.

We'll be featuring the most creative edits on the stream. Contest ends on 1/30 and we'll highlight the winner on 1/31! 

Free Content For Android Users

One of the most common bits of feedback we receive from Android users is that we don't offer enough free content for the Photo Editor by Aviary app. Well as of this week that has changed! We are proud to offer all of our Photo Editor by Aviary content packs for FREE to all Android users through the use of your Adobe ID.

Where you previously had to pay for Effects, Frames, Overlays and Stickers you will now be able to download them at no cost when logged in with an Adobe ID. We will also be changing our content offerings on a rolling basis with updates to our Stickers, Frames, Effects and Overlays every Thursday. You can look forward to seeing more Seasonal, Cultural and Holiday related content in the coming weeks.

Through the Adobe ID, users will have access to previously downloaded packs at any time. So as we cycle content in and out, the previous content will still be available to anyone who has already downloaded it. And don't worry, if you miss out on a certain pack one week there will still be opportunities to download it in the future.

3 BIG Updates for Aviary on Android

We’ve been working hard on an awesome update to Photo Editor by Aviary on Android. This version (4.8.0) has three major new features that we hope you love:

Adobe Typekit Fonts

You asked, and we heard. You can now add beautiful fonts to your photos through our new integration with Adobe Typekit. Best of all, it’s free!

Recipe Export

See a 'Recipe' (stack of edits) by another user that you like on the Explore feed? Tap the 'Export' icon inside their Recipe. After you choosing a photo of your own, their edits will automatically be applied to your photo!

Transform Tool

Get a new perspective on your photos with our all new Transform tool. You can skew the perspective of your image both vertically and horizontally to get the exact look you want.

Introducing Explore & Profile

We are thrilled to unveil an updated Photo Editor by Aviary which includes two brand new sections: Explore and Profile.

Explore

The Discover section as you knew it got a major facelift! Featured photos are now even easier to browse. Do you consider yourself a foodie? Sports buff? Nature freak? Animal lover? Good news! You can now explore a curated stream of photos based on your favorite category! 

Profile

Now you can publish your edit for a chance to be featured in the Explore section for the world to see. Better yet, every photo you publish gets saved to your Profile so you can have a collection of all your creative masterpieces in one place.

If you publish an edit for your eyes only, make sure to mark it as private. Only public edits will be considered for feature.

Favorites

See a photo with edits that blew you away? You can now store your favorite edits from other Aviary users in your Profile for inspiration.

February Photo Editing Challenge

Time to test your editing skills with our new photo challenge. We want to see you use Aviary to creatively transform an ordinary photo into a masterpiece!

Here’s how it works:

1. Download the challenge image
2. Edit the image using Aviary
3. Share to Instagram with #aviarychallenge and @aviaryphoto
4. Tag a friend and challenge them to edit their own entry

Submit your entries by 2/16. We’ll announce the winner and repost the winning photo on Instagram on 2/18.
