Halftone, an app for iOS created by Juicy Bits (great story by Mike Swanson, on why he left his job at Microsoft to start Juicy Bits), doesn't see why that has to be the case.
The app certainly pays homage to the visual effects of yesteryear but is firmly grounded in the realm of comics. While photos are core to the product, it is Halftone's wide range of effects, stickers, and text that make this app absolutely unparalleled in quality and depth.
